Healthy Bacteria

In your digestive tract, millions of bacteria play a crucial part in your health. However, out of the millions of species of gut microorganisms, some are beneficial to your health and others are not. Obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and inflammation linked with autoimmune illnesses can all be treated and prevented with a nutritious diet that promotes the health and diversity of your gut microorganisms.

We are all about promoting the importance of having a healthy gut! Therefore, we will always share our knowledge and known tips into how we can help your journey in achieving or maintaining this!

There are multiple ways that you can increase the number of good bacteria within your gut! This includes…

  • Consuming high-fibre foods

  • Consuming prebiotic-rich foods as they feed the healthy bacteria!

  • Try and introduce some probiotic foods into your diet such as miso and sauerkraut as these types of foods help balance the levels of good and bad bacteria and will improve your health!

  • Avoid regular consumption of fried foods, high-fat dairy products and red meats as these types of foods will impair the growth of healthy bacteria within the gut and promote the creation of bad bacteria which could cause chronic disease

  • Avoid high-fat foods, choose low-fat alternatives

  • Look after your body and your lifestyle! Exercise regularly, make sure your body gets enough sleep and manage any stress effectively!

Healthy bacteria helps our bodies breakdown food and absorb nutrients, and they also produce numerous vitamins, including folic acid, niacin, and vitamins B6 and B12. Probiotics contain bacteria similar to those which live in the body and propose many health benefits. They can help in treating various different health conditions such as eczema, diarrhoea, tooth decay, Crohn’s disease and irritable bowel syndrome! There are many different food sources of healthy friendly bacteria such as:

  • Yogurt

  • Buttermilk

  • Cheese (live cultures)

  • Tempeh

  • Miso

  • Sauerkraut

  • Sourdough bread

  • And many more!
